The Library

Updated: Jul 8, 2020

For almost two years now, I have worked as a historical researcher based out of the Library of Congress. My family thinks that has been a wonderful thing for me to say- and it has been. Each and every day, I am still wowed being there.

Yet for me, while its architecture and collections are impressive, I find a greater joy in the people whom I have come to know. It has been said that Washington can feel like a lonely place, as is said about all big cities, but I myself have never found this to be true. The library has not just collected interesting books, it has brought together many great women and men who truly enrich my life. Everyone contributes something uniquely special at every step of my day-to-day routine, and they often inspire me past five o'clock. The musing that comes to mind is a quote found painted in the great hall there, "They are never alone that are accompanied by noble thoughts."
